Healthy Relationship 101
The best way to avoid STI’s, unplanned pregnancy, and other unwanted consequences of at-risk sexual activity is to begin with a healthy relationship. What does a healthy relationship look like and how do you know that you’re in one?
A healthy relationship exists when two like minded individuals respect themselves and one another, while choosing to do what is best for each other physically, socially, financially, and psychologically. Basically, healthy relationships happen when two people are truly looking out for one another and making choices to benefit each other’s well being.
In a healthy relationship, you should feel free to express your personal boundaries and know that the other person will respect them. By starting off with clear expectations, you can work together to pursue your goals while avoiding consequences, like pregnancy and STI’s, that might harm your health or your long term goals.
